For over 25 years Bacillus has been spreading diseased noise and warnings of global pandemics; and now that the world has been gripped by the most devastating pandemic ever seen in a hundred years, it is fitting to take a look back at the beginnings of Bacillus, who at an early point had already solidified a reputation for being a revered project in the early days of "Americanoise."
This boxset collects the first four albums, which were originally issued from 1994-95 under its own imprint in limited quantities and have since been out of print for decades. They have never been reissued before, nor even appeared in any digital form online. They offer a glimpse into the initial start and development of this project as its voice and themes start to grow more focused. However right from the very start the use of found and destroyed tapes and records has been a key integral part of the development of the Bacillus sound, and like it was back then as it continues now, the focus on texture, distortion, improvised edits, corrosion of sounds, and the use of lo-fi equipment was present in full force. Influencing Machine Records is pleased to present these seminal works for a new audience, with an appropriately-themed package.
This boxset is packaged inside a medical kit box and includes the first four Bacillus albums, originally released on Clotted Meat Portioning "Pregnant Disease Formation," "The Second Shock Left the Patient Dead," "Epidemic," and "Black Plague," as well as "Microbiological Takeover" from 1996, originally slated for a 7" which never saw the light of day, now on cassette. Also inside are items for your personal protection and a booklet with exclusive essays and original artwork scans. The special edition will include stickers, a T-shirt featuring a reissue of an earlier classic shirt design, packaged in a biohazard bag for your protection.
The albums feature redesigned artwork by Dan Fried with images provided by Peter Keller and under his direction in keeping with the original aesthetic of his original label and are mastered by James Plotkin from the original tapes.
Produced and released by Influencing Machine Records in an edition of 150, 30 of which are the enhanced special edition.
